A visit to Chiang Mai Zoo Panda Exhibit Gets off to an Awful Start.

...It didn't get off to the best of starts. I've never seen a cute and active panda before but was looking forward to seeing them cheerfully munching bamboo shoots and enjoying a glass of Chardonnay and looking cuddly before the species goes extinct. We paid an extra $3.50US each to go into the air conditioned panda exhibit. As you can see from the photos below we did not get off to the best start. There were what appeared to be 50,000 "Do not do anything" signs and 2 comatose pandas whose names were obviously "Sleep-Sleep" and "Coma-Coma."

It is not possible to make 40 Chinese tourists and their kids  "Quiet Please." Chiang Mai gets lots of Chinese tourists thanks to a Chinese feature film which was made in Chiang Mai. The Chinese are lovely people.  Thai folk are even long as they are not behind the wheel of a vehicle. Chinese people have no road sense in that they do not understand that it is dangerous to walk or not walk or cycle or stop cycling in the middle of a busy road. Many Thai drivers seem to have no brakes or are in an an awful hurry making for a bloody and messy mix sometimes.

I wonder how many people have made their way to the Exit in the past at this point? A mistake, perhaps?

Can I have a drink instead then?

You might bloody well wake us up.

Cheapo cameras only allowed.

 "Where are the damn Pandas?"

Only if your cartoon Panda quits bitching at me.

Small white sign "Do not cross the bars, please." At this point I was ready for a bar myself.

But please direct me to one because thus far I see no pandas.

Panda 1, black fur.

Panda 2, fat black and white fur.

The good news is that things got MUCH better as you will see in our next post!
